In child law cases the child's interest is the most important factor. Collyer Bristow's experienced team strives to help parents and families achieve practical solutions which will cause the least amount of distress.

In cases where it becomes necessary to resolve a dispute through a court process, we have experience handling family issues representing parents, teenagers and extended family members in complex Court proceedings.

All of our team are members of Resolution. The team also works closely alongside Collyer Bristow's Cyber Investigation Unit (CIU), as well as the firm's Education team, to advise children who have been victims of cyberstalking, cyber harassment, cyber bullying and internet trolls.

How we can help you

The team can assist with any children dispute as to where a child should live, or who the child should spend time with. This was formerly known as contact and residence but is now known as a Child Arrangement Order. We can also advise as to Prohibited Steps Orders where the Court is asked to curtail parental responsibility and to stop a parent taking action, as well as to Specific Issue Orders which sanctions specific steps being taken.

We have extensive experience handling paternity issues, alternative family structures, surrogacy and adoption. In addition we advise on all aspects of Parental Responsibility, including medical treatment and schooling issues.

The firm is experienced in dealing with complex family cases with an international element, and our children team can assist with cross-border issues or leave to remove applications.
