The mixed-use development team at Collyer Bristow has considerable experience advising on all sides of the industry. Unlike other law firms, we offer our clients a service that is truly partner-lead. This approach means that our clients benefit from having one person coordinating all facets of a project and from a single office location. We act for housebuilders, commercial developers, registered providers of affordable homes and those who provide finance to developers.

Our strength is being able to understand the differing perspectives of builders, developers, landowners, local authorities, financial institutions and retailers in complex mixed-use development projects. We have an instinct for looking ahead beyond the matter in hand and anticipating problems before they arise, so that we are always prepared for the next stage in any project.

We are increasingly working with developers, investors and landlords in the private rental and build to rent sectors.

How we can help you

We provide advice to the housebuilding sector from the inception of a project to its completion, including advice on acquisition and development finance, site assembly, obtaining planning permission and construction, right through to plot sales and the sale of the reversionary interest.

We have particular expertise in the acquisition and development of complex mixed-use sites, the establishment of joint ventures, secured financings, agreements conditional on obtaining satisfactory planning permission, profit sharing and overage arrangements and renewable energy matters.

We work for many large PLCs as well as a number of niche developers. Our clients include Crest Nicholson, Bewley Homes, Willmott Dixon and Ipsus Developments. We are also members of the Home Builders Federation.
